This research was accomplished in order to define the effects of individual affectivity or emotions on their performance in organizational life based on Affective Events Theory. Both affectivity and performance divided into two; the construct of affectivity divided into positive and negative and the construct of performance into task and contextual. Results from studies on 392 nurses at Erciyes University Hospitals reveal that positive affectivity has positive relationship with task performance (R=0.733) and contextual performance (R=0.433) and has positive effects on both performance dimensions. So did negative affectivity in negative with task performance (R=-0.780) and contextual performance (R=-0.142). The results suggest that positive and negative affectivity of individuals have an significant main effect on their performance.
