Bu çalışmada zaman serisi analizinin tarih içerisinde ilk matematiksel başlangıcını ve gelişimini inceleyerek Buys Ballot'un bu konuyla ilgili yaptığı araştırmalara yer verildi. Buys Ballot, meteorolojik gözlemlere dayalı gözlem serilerin, farklı periyodik dizilerinin toplamları şeklinde yazılabileceği ve bu sayede ileriye dönük tahminlerin yapılabileceğini göstermiştir. Bu inceleme Buys Ballot'un anısına ithafen hazırlanmış olup, Onun zaman içerisinde unutulmaya yüz tutmuş araştırmalarını günümüz bilimine yeniden hatırlatma gayretinin bir ürünüdür.

In this study we analyzed the development of time series from the beginning up to now in view of mathematical aspects. Buys Ballot proved that the time series based on the meteorological observations can be expressed as a sum of two different periodic sequences. Then it can be available to make estimations for the future. By gathering all studies of Buys Ballot's on this subject we discussed his approach and we expect that this would greatly we dedicate this study to the memorial of Buys Ballot
