Küreselleşme ile birlikte risk olgusu, toplumsal ve ekonomik yaşantının merkezi bir konumuna taşınmıştır. Gündelik yaşantıdan siyasal alana değin hemen her toplumsal organizasyon, geç modern dönem ile farklı toplumsal sınıflar açısından farklı bağlamlardaki (iş, sağlık, eğitim, vb.) riskleri beraberinde getirmektedir. David Denney’in Risk ve Toplum adlı eseri, küreselleşme, toplum ve risk ilişkisini ele almaktadır. Eserde risk toplumu kuramcılarının argümanları detaylı bir şekilde ele alınmış ve günümüzde değişen risk olgusu sosyal bilimsel bir perspektifle ortaya konulmuştur.

With globalization, the phenomenon of risk has been moved to a central position in social and economic life. In late modern period, from everyday life to politics, almost every social organization brings risks in different contexts (business, health, education, etc.) for different social classes. David Denney's book, titled Risk and Society, approaches to the relationship between globalization, society and risk. In the book, the arguments of the risk society theorists are discussed in detail and the today’s changing risk phenomenon is presented with a social scientific perspective.
