Caught in between two different cultures, Mexico has been in a constant effort to find a national identity through the centuries and at the same time has been searching for an original language in the arts. In a period of constant change with its closures and new starts the Mexican artists were in an inclination to bring modernism into the art field while they were trying to hold on to the art stage. But the Mexican Mural Movement was an obstacle on their way to achieve their goal in the arts. For this reason a young group came together and formed La Ruptura.
