The Unknown Tekke: Muradiye Mevlevihanesi in Edirne

Muradiye Mevlevihanesi, which was among the significant dervishlodges of Edirne, was located on a high hill in the backyard of MuradiyeMosque. The building, whose date of construction is unknown, is thoughtto have been erected by Mimar Şehabettin during the reign of Murad II.This Mevlevihane once consisted of a mosque, sheikh hall, harem apart,dervish halls, senior dervish rooms, alms house, tomb, library, fountain,school and grave. However, it now comprises of only the mosque, fountainand grave. Along with other dervish lodges, it was closed down in 1925and pulled down in 1935.
