A Poka-Yoke application in rubber industry

Quality problems and defect products are always issues that have to be considered and eliminated in a manufacturing facility. Human effect in production is considered as one of most important root-cause items regarding defect product and quality problems. The first idea of how to minimize human factor in production has been generated by Shigeo Shingo who is an engineer of Toyota Motor Co. and this idea is named as Poka-Yoke. Poke can be translated as carelessness, absence of mind, undesirable mistake. Yoke is derived from Yokeru and can be translated as remove, elimination. This paper describes human mistakes at mixing operation in rubber industry that causes quality problems and product defect and how to eliminate these problems or defect by applying Poka-Yoke that still running at facility
