Anastasios Surları
ANASTASIAN WALL
A long wall was built for protecting Constantinople, the capital of Byzantine Empire, against the attacks from Thrace direction, in 5th century This important fortress is known as Anastasian Walls, which was reconstructed by Anastasios in 6th century This fortified walls, with its more than 50 kilometers long, lie almost on an uninterrupted straight line, from the Black Sea coastline to the seashores of Marmara. By this time, a large amount of the stones in the Anastasian Walls disappeared, because of its obnoxious use like a quarry. Therefore, it is a necessary to conserve the ruins of this important line of defense immediately, which only remained at the north site of the Anastasian Walls and also demolished to an extreme degree
