«Selam! Mütevazi Sikke, Hyllarima’nın Evladı». Sahte Bir Sikke’nin Şanı Hakkında Garip Bir Şiir?

Karia’da Hyllarima’nın antik sikkeleri, 1891 yılında Rus nümismat ve antikacı Alexandre-Pierre Boutkowski-Glinka tarafından bestelenen bir şiire vesile olmuştur. Yorumlanan metnin tamamını yayınladığımız bu çok garip eser, yazarının kaotik yaşamını ve kariyerini sunma fırsatıdır. Kendisi sikke konusunda tutkuluydu, Yunan nümismatiği üzerine bazen eleştirilen ve hatta bir tartışma kaynağı olan birkaç kitap ve makale yazmıştır. Bunlar arasında yankılanan bir intihal vakası vardır, aynı zamanda bir şiire vesile olan Hyllarima’nın bir Roma eyalet sikkesini yayımlanmıştır: «Selam! mütevazi sikke, Hyllarima’nın evladı». Alexandre-Pierre Boutkowski-Glinka tarafından belirsiz koşullar altında elde edilen ve Antoninus Pius döneminden ön yüzünde Boule (?), arka yüzünde ise dört atlı bir arabayı kullanan arabacı (belki de imparator) tasvirli söz konusu bronz sikke, bugün «Bibliothèque Nationale de France, Département des Monnaies, Médailles»’da korunmaktadır. Bunun tam bir kopyası Viyana’daki «Kunsthistorisches Museum, Münzkabinett»’te saklanır. Söz konusu sikkelerden Viyana’daki örnek kesin, diğeri de on dokuzuncu yüzyılda kalpazanların büyük miktarlarda ürettikleri sahte sikkeler gibi olasılıkla modern bir sahtedir.

«Salut ! humble monnaie, enfant d’Hyllarima». A Strange Poem to the Glory of a Modern Fake?

The ancient coinage of Hyllarima in Caria is the cause of a poem composed in 1891 by the Russian numismatist and antiquarian Alexandre-Pierre Boutkowski-Glinka. This very strange work, of which we publish the full commented text, is an opportunity to present the chaotic life and career of its author. Passionate about coins, he wrote several books and articles on Greek numismatics that were sometimes criticized, and even a source of controversy. Among these are a case of resounding plagiarism, but also a Roman provincial coin of Hyllarima, pretext for the poem «Salut ! humble monnaie, enfant d’Hyllarima». Acquired by Alexandre-Pierre Boutkowski-Glinka in obscure conditions, the coin, today in the Département des Monnaies, Médailles et Antiques of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, is a bronze of the time of Antoninus Pius with the image of Boule (?) on the obverse and that of a charioteer (perhaps the emperor) on a chariot pulled by four horses on the reverse. An exact copy of it is kept at the Münzkabinett of the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna. Obviously, one of the two coins, at least that of Vienna, or both, is a modern fake, as counterfeiters produced large quantities in the nineteenth century.
