KÜRESELLEŞME VE İKTİSADİ BÜYÜMENİN GIDA GÜVENLİĞİ ÜZERİNDEKİ ETKİSİ: MIST ÜLKELERİ İÇİN AMPİRİK BİR ANALİZ

Küreselleşme, son yüzyılın sosyo-ekonomik, siyasi, kültürel vd. birçok alanda önemli etkileri olan bir olgudur. Küreselleşme ile tüketim alışkanlıkları da değişme gösterebilmektedir. Nitekim gıda güvenliği açısından küreselleşmenin etkilerinin de ayrıca ele alınması, incelenmesi gerektiği ifade edilebilir. Bu noktadan hareketle bu çalışmanın amacı da MIST ülkeleri için 1970 ile 2019 yılları arasında küreselleşme ve iktisadi büyümenin gıda güvenliği üzerindeki etkisini incelemektir. Gıda güvenliği göstergesi olarak gıda üretin indeksi alınmıştır. Ampirik analizlerde CADF birim kök testi, Durbin-Hausman Eşbütünleşme testi ve AMG katsayı tahmincisi kullanılmıştır. Analiz sonucunda MIST ülkelerinde küreselleşme, iktisadi büyüme ve gıda güvenliği arasında eşbütünleşme ilişkisine rastlanmıştır. Ayrıca iktisadi büyüme gıda güvenliği üzerinde pozitif yönlü ve istatistiki açıdan anlamlı bir etkiye sahipken, küreselleşmenin gıda güvenliği üzerinde istatistiki açıdan anlamlı ancak negatif yönlü bir etkisi olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

THE EFFECT OF GLOBALIZATION AND ECONOMIC GROWTH ON FOOD SECURITY: AN AMPIRIC ANALYSIS FOR MIST COUNTRIES

In the last century globalization, socio-economic, political, cultural, etc. is a phenomenon that has important effects in many areas. With globalization, consumption habits can also change. As a matter of fact, it can be stated that the effects of globalization on food security are also a subject that needs to be addressed and examined. From this point, the aim of this paper is to investigate the effect of globalization and economic growth on food security for MIST countries from the period 1970-2019. For food security, we used the food production index. The CADF unit root test, Durbin-Hausman cointegration test, and AMF coefficient estimator were used. The results demonstrate that globalization, economic growth, and food security cointegrated. Furthermore, while economic growth impact positive and statistically significant on food security, globalization effect statistically significant and negatively.
