Bir bilim ve sanat dalı olarak MÜZİK, besteleme, icra etme ve dinleme boyutlarıyla; bireysel, toplumsal, ekonomik, kültürel ve eğitimsel işlevleriyle geçmişten günümüze her insanı ve toplumu yakından ilgilendirmiştir. Ülkemizde, müzik eğitimi okul öncesinden başlayıp, ilköğretim, orta öğretim ve yüksek öğretim programlarını da içine alacak şekilde uygulanmaktadır. İlköğretim kurumları, örgün eğitimin temelini teşkil etmesi nedeniyle, müzik eğitiminin de başlangıç aşamasıdır. İstenilen nitelikteki müzik eğitimi sayesinde sağlanabilir. İlköğretim kurumlarındaki sınıf öğretmenleri, müzik eğitimi derslerinide verdikleri için, sınıf öğretmenliği bölümlerindeki müzik eğitimi, öğretmenlerin niteliğini belirlemektedir. Hazırlamış olduğum bildiri, sınıf öğretmenliği bölümlerindeki müzik eğitimin bu güne kadar ki görünümünü ortaya koyan bir çalışmadır.

Musıc, as one branch of the arts and sciences posseses the dimensions of composition, playing and listening and also the aspects of individuality, community, culture and educatıon; all of whıch people have been interested in from the past right up to the present . Music educatıon in Turkey begins in the primary scool years and continves through until the end of high shcool years and continves trough until the end of high scool at the age of 18. Because institutions, of primary educatıon form the back bone of our educatıonal system, musıc educatıon there fore stars at primary level. For the lessons to be successful, musıc teachıng curriculum should be carefully planned. However, teachers who enter the musıc lessons at primary schools have not been trained in music instruction when they graduate from university programmes. Hence thıs study has been prepared with the intention of showing the current sitvation in primary school Teacher Training Departments in Turkey.
