Anlam, insanın yaşamına yön veren, yaşadığı olaylara kendince cevap vermesini sağlayan bir kavramdır. Bu bakımdan anlam, insanın hayatını tutarlı hale getiren bir kaynak durumunda yer almaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, Hayatın Anlam ve Amacı Ölçeği geliştirmek, geliştirilen bu ölçeğin geçerlik ve güvenirliğini sağlamaktır. Bu amaçla, geliştirilen Hayatın Anlam ve Amacı Ölçeği’nin uygulamaları, Malatya, Samsun, Trabzon ve İstanbul illerinde lisans öğrenimi gören ve lisans öğrenimini bitirmiş olan kişilerden tesadüfî olarak seçilen 274 kadın ve 242 erkek olmak üzere toplam 516 kişi üzerinde Aralık–2012 tarihinde yapılmıştır.Ölçeğin yapı geçerliği için faktör analizi yapılmış ve maddelerin faktör yüklerinin temel bileşenler analizinde birinci faktörde toplandığı görülmüştür. Ölçek, 17 maddeden oluşmuştur. Döndürülmüş faktör analizi sonucu ise ölçeğin maddeleri iki faktörde toplanmıştır. Ölçeğin toplam puanları ile madde puanları arasında bulunan karelasyon katsayıları (p<0,01) düzeyinde önemli görülmüştür.Hayatın Anlam ve Amacı Ölçeği’nin güvenirliği için, test-tekrar test, test-yarı test ve Cronbach Alpha güvenirlik kontrol yöntemleri kullanılmıştır. Ölçeğin, test-tekrar test güvenirlik katsayısı 0,74; test-yarı test güvenirlik katsayısı 0,81; Cronbach Alpha güvenirlik katsayısı ise 0,91 olarak bulunmuştur. Bu sonuçlara göre, Hayatın Anlam ve Amacı Ölçeği’nin geçerli ve güvenilir olduğu kanısına varılmıştır.Anahtar Sözcükler: Anlam, Amaç, Anlam Arayışı, Hayatın Anlamı, Hayatın Anlam ve Amacı Ölçeği. 

Meaning is a concept that gives direction to human life and helps human to give answers to the events  that he lives. In this sense, respect, is located in the event of a resource that makes people's lives consistent.The purpose of this study is to develop Meaning and Purpose of Life Scale, and it is developed to ensure the reliability and validity of the scale. To this end, Meaning and Purpose of Life Questionnaire developed applications are applied to people who randomly selected total of 516 people on December–2012, including 274 women and 242 men who live in Malatya, Samsun, Trabzon and Istanbul provinces who have completed undergraduate education or continiues undergraduate education.Factor analysis for construct validity of the scale was made  and it has been shown that principal component analysis of the material is collected in the factor loadings on the first factor. The scale consists of 17 items.In the end of the rotated factor analysis the scale items were collected in two factors. The correlation coefficients between the scores of the item and the total scale scores (p<0,01) level was significant. The reliability, Test-retest reliability, Cronbach's alpha reliability, Test-part test and Control methods are used for the  reliability of The Meaning and Purpose of Life Scale.The test-retest reliability coefficient of the scale is 0,74; the test-retest reliability coefficient is 0,81; the Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient is 0,91.
