ESKİ ANADOLU VE JAPON İSKELETLERİNDE DİSKRİMİNANT FONKSİYON ANALİZİYLE CİNSİYET TAYİNİ

İnsan iskelet kalıntıları üzerinde yapılan en öncelikli çalışma cinsiyet tayinidir, çünkü kimliklendirme için geliştirilmiş olan tüm teknikler erkekler ve kadınlar için farklı uygulanmaktadır. Bu çalışma bir Eski Anadolu ve Japon toplumunda kol kemikleri ölçülerinden yararlanılarak diskriminant analizi yardımıyla cinsiyet belirlemeye yönelik olarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu çalışmada Geç Jomon Dönemine (M.Ö. 14.-4. yy) tarihlendirilen ve 151 erişkin iskeleti içeren Yoshigo populasyonu ile 156 erişkin iskeleti içeren ve Ortaçağa (M.S. 10. yy) tarihlendirilen Dilkaya populasyonu bireylerinin kol kemiklerinden (Humerus, Radius, Ulna) alınan 15 adet ölçü yardımıyla yeni bir cinsiyet tayin metodu geliştirilmiştir. Veriler, SPSS 13.0 programı yardımıyla değerlendirilmiş, t-testi ve Diskriminant analizi uygulanmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre Yoshigo bireylerinde cinsiyeti doğru ayırma oranı % 70,5-86,3 arasında değişirken, Dilkaya'da bu oranlar % 70-92,6 arasındadır ve göreli olarak daha güvenilir değerler vermiştir. Çalışmada farklı dönemlere ve ırksal yapılara sahip iki eski iskelet populasyonu arasında cinsiyet tayinleri açısından gözlenen benzerlik ve farklılıklar da ortaya konulmuştur.

Sex Determination by Applying Discriminant Function Analysis on Ancient Anatolian and Japanese Skeletons

Determination of sex is a priority issue for further analysis of unidentified ancient human remains, because all techniques of identification are markedly different for males and females. The present study provides sex determination using discriminant analysis from arm bones measurements in an ancient Anatolian and Japanese population. In this study, a total of 15 arm bone measurements (humerus, radius and ulna) were taken from 151 adults of the Late Jomon Yoshigo shell mound population (B.C. 14-4th century, Japan) and from 156 adults of the Medieval Dilkaya population (A.D. 10th century, Anatolia). Data were analyzed by t-test and discriminant analysis using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 13.0 programme. Results showed that, grouping due to sex differentiations was accurate between 70,5% and 86,3% in the Yoshigo population, and between 70% and 92,6% in the Dilkaya population, which has more reliable values. Consequently, similarities and differentiations observed through the sex determinations of ancient human populations from different periods and racial structures are also discussed in this article.
