Asgari ücret istihdamı arttırır mı? 1969 2009 Türkiye örneği

alışma ekonomisi literatüründe asgari ücretin istihdam üzerindeki etkileri son dönemlerde sık tartışılan konulardan biri haline gelmiştir. standart rekabetçi işgücü piyasası modellerinde asgari ücret uygulamasının istihdam düzeyini negatif etkileyeceği ileri sürülürken, monopsoncu işgücü piyasası modellerinde asgari ücretin istihdam üzerinde anlamsız ya da pozitif etkisinin olacağı ileri sürülmektedir.

Does minimum wage increase employment? evidence from Turkey, 1969-2009

Recently, in the labour economics literature, the issue that the effects of minimum wage on employment has been often discussed. While standard competitive labor market models suggest that the effect of minimum wage on employment is negative, the monopsony labor market models introduce insignificant or positive effects of minimum wage on employment. Empirical studies have become more important, due to the difference between these theoretical views. The aim of this study is to research the relationship between employment and minimum wage adjustings through the case of Turkish manufacturing industry over the period of 1969200 using Pesaran cointegration test, Toda samamoto methodology and impulseresponse functions. The main findings of this research are; (i) there is no cointegration between minimum wage and employment (ii) minimum wage does not cause employment changes, (iii) employment does not response statistically significant minimum wage changes in Turkey.
