Numerical investigation of combined effect of nanofluid and impinging jet on heat transfer from a high heat flux moving surface
Besides technological developments heat loads on industrial systems are also increasing. So increasing rate of heat transfer to prevent demolition of the systems by high heat flux is a significant problem to solve. In this study, enhancement of heat transfer from a moving high heat flux surface with nanofluids and impinging jets was studied numerically. Effects of different Reynolds number for different fluid velocities (Re=8000, 16000, 24000, 32000), different volume ratio of nanofluids (ϕ=0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0), different particle diameter of nanofluids (Dp= 10, 20, 30, 40 nm) and different plate velocities (Vplate= 0, 0.5, 1, 2m/s) on heat transfer were investigated. Al2O3-H2O is used as a base fluid for all parameter. k-ε turbulence model of PHOENICS CFD program was used for numerical analysis. As a result; increasing Re number from Re=8000 to Re=32000 causes an increase of 54.9% on Nuavg, increasing nanofluid volume ratio from ϕ=0.5 to ϕ=2.0 causes an increase of 2.5% on Nuavg, decreasing nanofluid particle diameter from Dp=40 nm to Dp=10 nm causes an increase of 9.1% on Nuavg. It was also determined that increasing plate velocity causes an increase on Nuavg. This increase can be assigned at the region of fluid velocity and plate velocities were at the same direction according to the opposite direction. Increasing plate velocity from Vplate=0 m/s to Vplate=2 m/s causes and increase of 40.9% on Nuavg. Additionally, numerical results were also verified with some experimental results in literature.
