Problems Faced on the Aircraft Assembly Area and Improvements
This work investigates assembly process, which is one of the most important steps of air
vehicle build. At aerospace sector, which uses high technology, like all processes, assembly
is more complicated than that of many other sectors and mistakes may cause fatal results.
For this reason, maximum attention and precision is required on each phase. In this study,
problems, which are recorded on the assembly floor for different projects on a certain period are
listed, results are analyized with Pareto diagram, categorized at 5 class and systematic efforts
have been paid to reduce these. The results have been arranged and kept to adapt to the other
programs in the future, as applicable. On the other hand, applying solutions in the shortest
time is as important as finding them. For this reason, resolving the problems on the assembly
area within a certain time is defined as a target for manufacturing engineering department to
provide faster solutions in the future.
