Bu çalışmanın amacı, öğrencilerin dönem başındaki ve sonundaki algılamalarını ve bir yarıyıl boyunca sözkonusu algılamalarındaki değişimleri tespit etmektir. Bu amaca ulaşmak için, aşağıdaki araştırma sorularına cevap aranmıştır: a. Öğrencilerin cinsiyeti ve kayıtlı oldukları program açısından dönembaşı algılamalarında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık var mıdır? b. Öğrencilerin cinsiyeti ve kayıtlı oldukları program açısından dönemsonu algılamalarında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık var mıdır? c. Öğrencilerin algılamaları dönem boyunca değişmiş midir? Sözkonusu sorulara cevap bulmak için, Geiger ve Ogilby (2000) tarafından geliştirilmiş olan anket, ilki dönembaşında ve diğeri dönemsonunda olmak üzere Karadeniz Teknik Üniversitesi İşletme Bölümü’nde okuyan ve muhasebe dersini ilk defa alan 270 birinci sınıf öğrencisine iki defa uygulanmıştır. Araştırmanın sonucunda, dönembaşında, öğrencilerin muhasebe dersine yönelik genellikle pozitif düşüncelere sahip oldukları, ancak dönemsonunda bu düşüncelerinin negatife doğru değiştiği tespit edilmiştir. Bu değişimde özellikle, dersin sıkıcı olacağı, öğrencilere bilgi vereceği, eğiticinin dersin önemiyle ilgili öğrenci düşüncelerinde etkili olacağı ve dersten beklenen ve alınan puan gibi unsurlardaki değişim dikkat çekicidir.

(A Research For Students’ Perceptions Who Take The Accounting Course For The First Time: The Case Of Karadeniz Technical University) The purpose of this study is to examine students’ perceptions regarding the introductory Accounting course. The study separately examines the initial and the last student perceptions and changes in those perceptions over the semester. We then try to answer the following research questions: a- Are there any differences in the initial perceptions regarding the introductory accounting course in terms of student gender and program? b- Are there any differences in the last perceptions regarding the introductory accounting course in terms of student gender and program?, c- Do students' perceptions of the introductory course change over the semester? For this purpose, a questionnaire designed by Geiger ve Ogilby (2000), was applied first at the beginning and then at the end of the semester to 270 students in the Department of Business Administration, Karadeniz Technical University, who took introductory financial accounting course. Responses have indicated that at the beginning of the semester, all students exhibited relatively positive perceptions toward the course. However, these perceptions were similarly less favorable by the end of the semester for all of them. For the changes in the perceptions changed, interest in the course, the information covered, instructor’s effect (related to the importance of the course) and grade items should be taken into consideration.
