Bronchial thermoplasty
Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the airwayscharacterized by airway hyperresponsiveness and airflowobstruction. Chronic airway inflammation can lead to anincrease in thickness of airway smooth muscle which causesairflow constriction and breathing difficulty. Clinical trials havedemonstrated significant improvements on asthma patients whoreceived bronchial thermoplasty (BT).
