KUR’ÂN’I ANLAMADA HADİSLERDEN YARARLANMANIN GEREKLİLİĞİ ÜZERİNE (el-Bakara Sûresi 286. Ayet Örneği )

ON THE NECESSITY OF RESORTING TO AHADITH IN UNDERSTANDING THE QUR’AN (THE EXAMPLE OF THE SURAT AL-BAQARA 286)

The 286th verse of the second chapter of the Qur’an al-Baqara,’lâ yukallifullâhu nafsan illâ wus’ahâ’, is generally understood in the sense that ‘Allah does not place a burden on human beings greater than they do not have strength to bear’. However, it is implied in the following part of the same verse ‘Rabbanâ wa lâ tuhammilnâ mâ lâ tâkata lanâ bih’ that Allah may place a burden on human beings greater than they do not have strength to bear. In this article, the expressions in question that appear to be contradicting each other are discussed and the true meaning of the senteces are explored in the light of the relevant ahadith.
