This article first analyzes the Qur’anic understanding of the universe and compares it to what extend it concurred with the modern scientific understanding of the universe, and sets forth its similarities and differences with each other. Secondly, it discusses al-amr, which is related to this concept and the main terminologies of the Qur’an in terms of scientific, religious and philosophical point of views. Finally it evaluates the physical and especially metaphysical dimensions of the universe in the context of al-amr.
