Mitolojide Kök Hücrenin İzleri

Kök hücrenin tanımlanmasından itibaren, bu sihirli hücrelerin hastalıkların oluşumundaki rolü ve tedavilerde kullanılabilirliği bilim insanlarının ve tıp dünyasının büyük ilgisini çekmişir. Kök hücreler kullanılarak uygulanacak tedaviler ve oluşturulabilecek yapay organlar gündemde yerini almıştır. İleriye yönelik bu alandaki çalışmalar umut verici ve de merak uyandırıcıdır. Bunun yanısıra, kök hücrenin tanımlanmasından önce de tarihin sayfalarında yer alması da ilgi çekicidir. Dünyada insanlardan daha eski geçmişe sahip olan ilkel canlılarda; hatta efsane olarak kabul edilen ve sinema uyarlamalarını izlediğimiz mitlerin arasında kök hücrenin izlerine rastlanmaktadır. Bu derlemede; binlerce yıl öncesinden gelen mitolojik hikâyelerde ana temaları ve çıkış noktalarını incelendiğimizde kök hücrelere dolaylı olarak değinilmiş olduğunu gözler önüne sermek istiyoruz.

Traces of Stem Cell in Mythology

Since the definition of stem cells, scientists and physicians have been attracted by the importance of those magic cells during the formation of diseases, as well as the use of them for the therapy. Stem cell therapies and hope of artificial organs have always been on the agenda. Studies for the future developments are really intriguing and promising. In addition to that, some retrospective studies have been carried out taking into account the fact that the stem cell existed before the discovery date in the world. The traces of the stem cell have been found between the primitive livings, that have a longer history than humans in the world, and even in the myths. This review documents the traces of stem cells in the mythologic stories by focusing on their main themes and the origins.
