Experimental investigation of the wear behaviors engineering plastics
In this experimental study, polyamide 6 (PA6), casting polyamide 6 (PA6G), poly-oxy-methylene (POM), polyether- ether-ketone (PEEK) and poly-ethylene-terephthalate (PET), engineering polymers are used. Wear tests were performed by pin on disc testing machine. Wear test of engineering plastics, three different loads (60N, 80N and 100N) and two (0.5-1 m/s) sliding speed used. Experiments of AISI 1040 steel, as against the disc material is used. PA6, PA6G, POM, PEEK and PET engineering plastics coefficients of friction and specific wear rates were determined and results are compared with each other. According to experimental results obtained in experiments that used polymers for the lowest coefficient of friction and wear rate was found in the PET polymer engineering. Engineering plastics with an increase in the sliding speed wear rate and friction coefficients were increased. PEEK, and PET PA6G of engineering polymers with an increased load on the coefficient of friction is increased, with an increased load in PA6 and POM engineering polymer were observed the coefficient of friction values decreases.
