ÖZETDers kitapları, öğretmenlerin bir tek bilgi kaynağı olarak ders programlarındaki konuları işlemelerine rehberlik ettiği için çok sık kullanılırlar. Bundan dolayı da coğrafya ders kitapları, derslerde kullanılan çoğu zaman tek temel ders aracı olduğu için analiz edilip-değerlendirmeye tabi tutulması gerekir. Gerek coğrafya öğretmenleri, gerekse öğrenciler çok farklı sebeplerden dolayı, coğrafya ders kitaplarının yetersiz olduğunu hep yakına gelmişlerdir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, (1) yeni Coğrafya Öğretim Programı-2005 çerçevesinde, kullanılmakta olan en uygun coğrafya ders kitabını tespit etmek ve (2) yeni hazırlanan Coğrafya Öğretim Programı’na uygun olarak basılması düşünülen yeni coğrafya ders kitapları için öneriler sunmaktır. Bu çalışma coğrafya kitabını seçip, dersinde okutacak olan öğretmenler ile program geliştiricileri için bir rehber ve araçtır. Şu anda mevcut olan coğrafya ders kitapları, yeni hazırlanan Coğrafya Öğretim Programları-2005 belgesi merkezli belirli kriterler etrafında değerlendirilmiştir. Bütün coğrafya kitapları belirli kriterler göz önüne alınarak incelenmiş ve kitaplarda format ve içerik yönünden bir çok eksikliklerinin olduğu tespit edilmiş ve yeni öğretim programına uygun kitapların basılması için öneriler sunulmuştur. Since they are the main source and used all the time, they mst be analized and assessed. They are used in classroom due to their guide to the classroom teachers who rely on single course of information to cover what curriculum requires to do. Most of the time, geography teachers or students complain geography textbooks for many different reasons. The purpose of this paper is (1) decide the best geography textbooks in the frame of New Geography Teaching Program-2005 and (2) to give suggestions about up coming geography textbooks which are planned to fit in the new program. This work is a tool and guide for teachers and curriculum administrators who are responsible adopting classroom geography materials. In this study, all textbooks were evaluated in a specific criteria. All books were checked in format, context, and perspective. As a result, most geography textbooks have so many weaknesses.
