Okul Yöneticilerinin ve Öğretmenlerin Yaşadıkları Etik İkilemler: Demografik Değişkenler Açısından Bir İnceleme

Bu araştırmanın amacı, okul yöneticilerinin ve öğretmenlerin yaşadıkları etik ikilem düzeylerini ve yaşadıkları etik ikilemleri bazı demografik değişkenlere göre incelemektir. Araştırmada örneklemi oluşturan 540 öğretmen, 60 müdür yardımcısı ve 30 okul müdürü Ankara’da bulunan kamu ortaokullarından tabakalı örnekleme yöntemi ile seçilmiştir. Veriler “Okullarda Etik İkilemler Ölçeği” ile toplanmıştır. Araştırma sonuçları okul yöneticilerinin ve öğretmenlerin ağırlıklı olarak orta düzeyde etik ikilem yaşadıklarını ortaya koymuştur. Okul yöneticilerinin ve öğretmenlerin yaşadıkları etik ikilemler cinsiyet değişkenine anlamlı bir farklılık göstermezken görev değişkenine göre öğretmenler lehine anlamlı şekilde farklılaşmıştır. Bununla birlikte araştırma sonuçları orta yaş grubundaki öğretmenlerin daha fazla etik ikilem yaşadıklarına işaret etmiştir. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre orta düzeyde kıdeme sahip müdür yardımcıları davranışsal ve sistemsel boyutlarda, orta düzeyde kıdeme sahip öğ- retmenler davranışsal ve yapısal boyutlarda daha fazla etik ikilem yaşamaktadır. Araştırma sonuçları etik ikilem yaratan durumların önlenmesi bağlamında tartışılmıştır.

Ethical Dilemmas that School Administrators and Teachers Experience: An Analysis Related to Demographic Variables

The aim of this research is to analyse the levels of ethical dilemmas that the school administrators and the teachers experience, and to document their ethical dilemmas according to demographic variables. In this study, 540 teachers, 60 principal assistants and 30 school principals who participated in the sampling were chosen frompublic middle schools in Ankara by stratified sampling method. The data were collected by “Ethical DilemmasScale at Schools”. The results of the research revealed that school administrators and the teachers experienceethical dilemmas mainly at medium level. Although school administrators’ and teachers’ ethical dilemmas do notchange according to their gender, on the part of teachers ethical dilemmas change in relations to their position.Besides, the analyses pointed out that the teachers in the middle-age group experience more ethical dilemmas.According to these results, principal assistants who are mid-senior experience more ethical dilemmas relatedto behavioural and systemic aspects, mid-senior teachers experience more behavioural and structural ethicaldilemmas. The research results are discussed in terms of the situations that cause ethical dilemmas in the contextof preventing them.
