Geç Ortaçağ döneminde Kabardey, Kuzey Kafkasya'nın en büyük topraklara sahip ülkesiydi. Aynı zamanda ülke derebeyliklere parçalanmaktaydı. Beyliklerin arazisi ve nüfusu birbirinden farklı idi. Büyük arazisi ve nüfusu olan beylikler uluslarası ilişkilerdede önemli yer tutmaktaydı. Ülkenin çöküşüne rağmen, Kabardey'in büyük prensi unvanı yaşatılmakta ve diğer prensler tarafından saygı ile kabul edilmekte idi. 

During an epoch of the late Middle Ages of Kabarda was the biggest on occupied territory the country in the North Caucasus. At the same time there is its crushing on specific princedoms. The territory and the population of specific princedoms weren't identical. Their political weight in the international relations was proportional to the given indicators also. Despite country disintegration, a title of grand duke Kabardy continued to function, with which also other princes to some extent were considered.
