Bu çalışmada, Kırım Hanlığı payitahtı Bahçesaray Cami-i Kebir mahallesi örneğinde Osmanlı şehirlerinin temel yönetim birimi olan mahalle konu edilmiştir. Kırım Hanlığı şer'iyye sicilleri 71 ve 72 nolu defterler ışığında devletin bir ikamet alanı olan mahalle ile nasıl bir irtibat kurduğu, mahallelerin birbirleriyle münasebetleri ve mahalle sakinlerinin yaşayışları incelenmiştir.

This study takes the cami-i Kebir Quarter of Bahçesaray, then capital of the Crimean Khanate, as a sample case to examine 'mahalle' (quarter), the basic administrative division of the Ottoman cities. The authors observes, in the light of the court notebooks with no 71 and 72, how the stare used to get relation with the mahalle, an habitation area, and how relations were among inhabitants of the mahalle, and how they used to live.
