MONTHLY DESIGNDATAFOR MAXIMUM SOLAR RADIATION FALLING ON COLLECTOR ARRAYS INBAGHDAD CITY

Increasing use of solar energy as a cleanand freesolution forenergy demand necessitatesproperuse of its equipment, enhancedspatial planning and distribution of solar collectors, optimum directional facing and tilt angle to ensure maximum solar radiation falling, and decreasingas possible as the shading effects of panel arrays. Most existing references lack comprehensive data about shading effectsthat varied along the yearand design of solar array. In thepresent work, enhancedtheoretical design data of solar collector arrayswere tabulatedfor each month in Baghdad. MATLAB program wasused to calculate the maximumclear sky solar radiation per unit area per day.Thetabulated data yields aneconomicallysaveddesign of solar field or rooftop collector systems. The results indicated that, the shading effect on panel arraysalmost vanishes when the distance between two panel rows to panel height ratiois greater than 1 in summer and greater than 2 in winter.
