YOL iNSAATINDA KULLANILAN GEOTEKSTiLLERiN ÇEKME DAYANIMLARININ DOKU FARKLILIGI YONUNDEN iNCELENMESi

THE DETERMINATION OF TENSILE STRENGTH OF DIFFERENT TEXTURED GEOTEXTILES USED IN ROAD CONSTRUCTION

The raise in the level of traffic and axle loads along with the construction errors and climatic conditions in the last decade has caused failures in pavements such as fatigue and low temperature cracking as well as permanent deformation. In order to minimize the above mentioned failures, geotextiles have been successfully employed by using their stabilization and reinforcement functions. Owing to these functions, geotextiles increase the strength of the pavement. In general, the higher tensile strength value the geotextiles have, the more resistive the pavement to permanent deformation This study aims to determine the properties of different types (continuous flament non-woven, needle punched non-woven, slit film yarns woven) of geotextiles that have different densities (200gr/m2, 300gr/m2, 400gr/m2, 450gr/m2) by conducting the "Standard Test Method for Tensile Properties of Geotextiles by the Wide-Width Strip Method" and the "Standard Test Method for Static Puncture Strength of Geotextiles and Geotextile Related Products Using a 50-mm Probe". In this way the utilization of geotextiles in road construction can be evaluated.
