Olanzapine Induced Deep Venous Thrombosis
Cause of a lower risk of extrapyramidal side effects atypical antipsychotic drugs are primarily being used more frequently in schizophrenia and mania. Many metabolic side effects particularly such as obesity and dyslipidemia may occur in the use of atypical antipsychotic drugs. Numbers of studies that show a relationship between atypical antipsychotic use and the development of venous thromboembolism have been increasing. We discovered deep venous thrombosis in 33year- old male patient, who had been using olanzapine due to bipolar disorder, admitted to our emergency service with leg pain and swelling. In this case report we discussed that in a patient without risk factors for developing venous thromboembolism, the use of olanzapine may lead to deep venous thrombosis
