Reproduction Biology of the Liocarcinus depurator (Crustacea: Decapoda: Brachyura) in the Southeast Black Sea
This study was carried out to determine the reproductive characteristics of Liocarcinus depurator (Crustacea: Decapod: Brachyura) caught by beam trawl in the Southeastern Black Sea between December 2012 and November 2013. The samples were taken depth of 0-30+ m by using 2 meters width beam trawl in Iyidere, Cayeli and the Centre Station. In total, 2715 units of L. Depurator was biologically analysed. (39.4 % of them is non ovigerous females, 7.8% of them is ovigerous females and 52.8% of them is male). The width of Karapas for non ovigerous was measured between 6.8- 37.5 mm, ovigerous is between 17.3- 35.0 mm and for male between 10.1- 51.3 mm. For female, the maximum GSI scale was observed between August and November whereas it was observed in March for male. The measure is 32.28 mm (KG) for %50 of mature males and for females 28.19 mm (KG). The results of the study were evaluated as important input parameters for further studies on L. depurator species.
