Dermestid böcekleri: Biyolojisi ve koloni oluşturulması

iskelet temizlenmesinde en yaygın tilr olarak Dermestes maculatus (Syn: Dermestes vulpinus) kullanılmaktadır. Optimum 26,6-29.5°C ısıda ve %50 nem oranındaki bir ortamda,aktif olarak iskeletlerin temizlenmesini hızlı bir şekilde yaparlar. Tüy, kürk, deri, kan ve organları sevmeyen bu böcekler, hızla et tüketerek gelişim evrelerini taınamlarlar.Hassas ve narin materyaller için küçük larvalar kullanılırken, büyük ebattaki materyaller için ise daha büyük larvalar kullanılmaktadır. Koloni ile çalışanların dikkat etmesi gereken en önemli nokta, septik bir ortamla ilgilenmelerinden dolayı enfeksiyonlara karşı tedbirli davranmalarıdır.

Dermestid beetles: Their biology and colony formation

The most commonly used species for skeleton cleaning is Dermestes maculatus (Syn: Dermeste.t vulpinux). They clean the skeleton actively in an environment at 26.6-29.5°C optimal temperature and 50% humidity. They dislike hair, fur, skin, blood and organs but they consume the flesh rapidly to complete their developmental stages. Smaller larvae are used for thin and sensitive materials however; bigger larvae are used for big size materials. The most important point which should be taken into account by those who studies with this colony is to take precautions to avoid infections because of the septic environment they deal with.
