Bu çalışmada, sosyolojinin Fransa'da akademik kurumsallaşma sürecine dair bir dizi hatırlatma ve tespitin ardından, sosyolojinin Fransız üniversitelerinde bugün sahip olduğu önem ve sosyoloji bölümü mezunlarının iş hayatında ne tür pozisyonlarda iş imkanı bulabildikleri istatiksel bir dizi bilgi ışığında değerlendirilmiştir. Ayrıca, bir merkez (Paris IV - Sorbonne) ve bir taşra (Grenoble) üniversitesi ile sadece sosyal bilimlerde lisans üstü öğretim veren Ecole des hautes etudes en sciences sociales (EHESS)'deki sosyoloji bölümlerinin müfredatı bir liste şeklinde verilmiştir.

After reviewing the historical evolution and process of institutionalisation of Sociology and its importance as an academic discipline in French  universities, in the light of empirical and statistical data, this paper aims to examine the employment opportunities and chances  of sociology graduates in job markets. It also does a comparative anlaysis of  sociology course programmes  and syllabuses taught and followed in French Higher education institutions such as Sorbonne, Grenoble and EHESS.
