Olumsuzluğun olabildiğince çok olduğu çağlarda yaşam mücadelesi veren insanın örtünmeyi doymakla eş değer tutması doğal ve vazgeçilmez bir olgu idi. İklimin ve doğa koşullarının çe- şidi elbette ki örtünmeyi de teklikten çıkartarak, şartlara göre ona çeşni kazandıracaktı. Tarihin akışı içinde örtünme, yerini giyinmeye, giyim de estetik ile birleşince, ortaya çıkan farklı anlatımlar incelenmeye gereklilik gösterdi. Bu çalışmadaki amaç; Modanın çok geniş bir kapsama alanına sahip olması nedeniyle, günü- müzde yaygın olarak kullanılan kavramların çıkış noktalarını kısaca incelemek ve yaşantımızın birçok alanlarında farklı işlevlere sahip olan bir tür mekanizma gibi düşünmenin doğru olaca- ğını vurgulamaktır. Moda tanımını yaparken, bir düşünceyi şekillendiren bir eylem (to fashion) olduğunu unutmamak gerekir. Davranış şeklimizden, saç stilimize ve konuşma tarzımıza kadar yaygınlaşan bu eylem biçiminin çağlar boyu incelemesi uzun olacağından, özellikle tarihi geli- şim sürecine kısaca değinmeyi uygun gördüm

Veiling, which had been considered to be on par with being satisfied, was a natural and an inevitable way of thinking by those who struggled to survive through the ages associated with extreme unfavorableness. The diversity of climate and natural conditions was present by all means to abandon uniform state of veiling and add flavors to it instead, corresponding to various circumstances. Veiling, in the course of history, has been replaced by dressing and dressing has been combined with aesthetics, making reviews of a number of different compositions a necessity. The aim of this study is to shortly review the sources of concepts that are widely used today since fashion represents a great deal of coverage and to emphasize that thinking just like a mechanism having different functions in lots of fields of our lives will be right. When defining fashion, one should not forget that it is an event that shapes a thought. Because it is likely to take too long to examine such an event spilling over into our lives from our behavior to our hair and communication style throughout the history, I considered it to be appropriate to touch especially on its historical development process briefly
