İslamiyet ile ilk tanışmaları Emeviler dönemine rastlayan ancak Abbasi devleti zamanında İslam dünyasıyla etkili bir iletişim içerisine giren ve kitleler halinde Müslümanlığı kabul eden Türklerin tamamına yakını Hanefi mezhebini benimsemiştir. Hanefi mezhebinin Türkler tarafından benimsenmesi rastgele gerçekleşmemiş, bu mezhebin bazı karakteristik özellikleri ile sosyal, siyasi, coğrafi ve kültürel sebepler, Türklerin bu tercihinde etkili olmuştur. Bu çalışmamızda, Hanefi mezhebinin oluşum ve gelişim süreci de dikkate alınarak, Türklerin bu mezhebi kabul etmelerini kolaylaştıran etkenler ele alınmaktadır.

Almost all of the Turks first meeting with Islam coincided Umayyad period but having an effective communication with Islamic World during the Abbasi State and accepting Islam in masses adopted the Hanafi Sect. The adoption of the Hanafi Sect by the Turks did not occur randomly, some characteristic features of this sect and social, geographical, political and cultural reasons influenced this preference of the Turks. In this study, considering the constitution and development process of Hanafi Sect, factors that make it easier for Turks to accept this sect are discussed.
