Bu çalışmada, Türkiye'de yaygın olarak kullanılan çeşitli yakıt ve ısıtma sistemlerinin, ekonomileri incelenmiştir. Yakıt giderine ek olarak ilk yatırım ve işletme giderleri de detaylı olarak ele alınmıştır. Yıllık yakıt maliyetinde, yakıt birim fiyatından çok, sistemin ve yakıtın kalitesi önem kazanmaktadır. Sonuçta, kömür, linyit veya elektirik kullanan sistemler doğal gaz veya fuel oil yakanlara göre çok daha pahalı olmaktadır. Ayrıca bölgesel veya merkezi sistemler münferit sistemlere göre %20'ye varan üstünlük sağlayabilmektedir.

In this study, economics of different fuel and heating systems are analysed. In addition to the fuel cost, the initial and operational costs are also considered in detail. It is found that the quality of the fuel and system is more important than the unit cost of the fuel. It is found that systems using coal, lignite, or electricity are much more expensive than those burning natural gas or even fuel oil. In addition, district or central heating systems could provide up to 20% superiority in comparison to individual systems.
