The Relationship Between Leader Member Exchange and Burnout

The main purpose of this study is to investigate whether there is a significant effect of the quality of the leader-member exchange on burnout. Through questionnaires, data were collected from a five star hotel in Ankara. In this frame, one hundred and thirty one questionnaires were analyzed. The results of the study showed that the quality of the leader-member exchange influences the level of employees’ burnout. A high level of employees' burnout has a lot of negative consequences in terms of both individual and organizational. Therefore, the reduction of employees’ bournout is crucial for organizations. At this point, improving the quality of leader-member exchange will be useful for organizations and employees. There are two important limitations about the sudy. First, the results of the study cannot be generalized, as the survey was administered in only one hotel. Second, in the survey, the data were collected by using a self-report methodology, so another limitation is the possibility of common method variance.
