Finansal açıdan büyük bir potansiyele sahip olan turizm sektörü, canlılığını her geçen gün artırmakta ve alternatif turizm türleri büyük ilgi görmektedir. Mersin’in Erdemli ilçesinde de, nüfus artış hızına bağlı olarak gelişmeye devam eden turizm faaliyetleri, yerli ve yabancı turistlerin ilgi odağı olmaktadır. İlçe, konumu ve kültürel yapıları itibariyle çeşitli turizm faaliyetlerinin gerçekleşmesine olanak sağlamaktadır. Çalışmada Erdemli’de deniz turizmi ve yayla turizmi faaliyetlerinin finansman kaynağı olarak değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amacı gerçekleştirmek için, ilçeye gelen yerli ve yabancı turistlerin sayısı ile özellikle yaz dönemlerinde yaylada yaşamlarını geçiren kişilerin nüfusu ile ilgili veriler araştırılmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda, Erdemli’de özellikle yerli halkın yaz dönemlerinde yayla turizmini tercih ettiğine, buna karşılık deniz turizmi için farklı illerden gelerek otellerde konaklamayı seçen kişilerin sayısının da bir hayli yüksek olduğuna ulaşılmıştır. Bu açıdan değerlendirildiğinde, Erdemli’nin özellikle deniz turizmi ve yayla turizmi açısından büyük bir potansiyele sahip olduğu görülmektedir

The tourism sector, which has great potential in financial terms, increases its vitality day by day, and alternative tourism types attract great interest. In Erdemli province of Mersin, tourism activities that continue to develop depending on the population growth rate become the focus of interest of domestic and foreign tourists. The district provides various tourism activities in terms of its location and cultural structures. It is aimed to evaluate the activities of marine tourism and highland tourism activities as a source of financing in Erdemli. To achieve this purpose, it was investigated that the data related to the number of domestic and foreign tourists coming to the district and population of people who live in the highlands during the summer period. As a result of the study, it has been reached that espacially domestic peoples prefer highland tourism in the summer, whereas the number of people who come for marine tourism from different provinces and choose to stay in the hotels are very high. When evaluated in this respect, it is seen that Erdemli has a great potential especially in terms of marine tourism and highland tourism
