Polo, geçmişi milattan önceki dönemlere rastlayan köklü bir geçmişe sahip olan bir spor dalıdır. Günümüzde polo olarak isimlendiren bu spor, milattan önceki dönemlerde birçok toplumda farklı isimler altında, yöresel kurallara bağlı olarak oynanmıştır. Bu sporun milattan önceki dönemlerdeki oynanma amacı da, askerlerin savaş yeteneklerini geliştirmek olmuştur. Tarihte birçok lider bu sporu severek oynamıştır. Birçok lider kendileri için özel polo alanları yaptırmıştır. Yapılan bu çalışmanın amacı, Polo sporunun farklı toplumlardaki kökenine inerek, ilk olarak hangi toplumda oynanmaya başladığını ortaya koymaktır. Çalışmanın sonun da, polo sporunun gelişiminde ve dünyaya yayılmasında Türklerin ve Perslerin büyük bir etkisi olduğu anlaşılmıştır.

This branch of sports, which is now called Polo, has been played in various societies under the different names and different local rules since the years before the birth of Christ. In history, many leaders have played this sport fondly. Many leaders have built custom polo areas for themselves The purpose of this sport was to improve warfare abilities of soldiers in the years before the birth of Christ. This study aims to reveal the origin of Polo in which society first started by descending from its origins in different societies. In this study, a screening method was used. At the end of the work, it was understood that Turkish ancestors had a great influence on the development of Polo and its spread to the world. As a result of the readings, it was understood that this sport was not a sport unique to men also women were doing polo sports.
