Vatandaşlar tarafından polis memurlarına yöneltilen işyeri şiddeti

Bu çalışmanın amacı polis memurlarına karşı vatandaşlar tarafından gerçekleştirilen işyeri şiddetinin yaygınlığını, biçimlerini, nedenlerini ve etkilerini belirlemektir. Bu amaçla, Muğla ilinde görevli toplam 544 polis memuruna anket uygulanmıştır. Ayrıca, derinlemesine görüşmelerde nitel veriler elde edilmiştir. Bulgular mesleki yaşamları süresince polislerin yüzde 41,7'sinin fiziksel şiddete, yüzde 63,4'ünün sözel şiddet ve tehdide ve yüzde 4,9'unun cinsel tacize uğradıklarını göstermektedir. Polis memurlarının yüzde 82,5'i ise mesleklerini işyeri şiddeti bakımından tehlikeli bulmaktadır. Saldırıların polis memurları üzerindeki etkilerinin "öfke ve kızgınlık", "endişe ve güvensizlik", "olayı unutamama", "verimlilik ve performansta azalma", "işe bağlılıkta azalma " ve "işe gitme isteğinde azalma " olduğu belirlenmiştir.

Workplace violence towards police officers by citizens

This study aims to identify the prevalence, forms, causes and impacts of workplace violence directed towards the police officers by the citizens. To this end, a survey was applied to 544 police officers employed in the province of Muğla. Also, qualitative results were obtained from the oral interviews conducted in depth. The results indicated that during the course of their professional life, 41.7 % of the police officers have been exposed to physical violence, 63.4% to verbal abuse and threat and 4.9% to sexual harassment. 82.5% of the police officers find their occupation dangerous in terms of work-place violence. It was also found that the assaults have negatively affected the police officers in various ways such as "anger and irritation ", "anxiety and lack of self-confidence", "unable to forget the event", "fall in productivity and performance", "decline in job commitment" and "decrease in willingness to go to work".
