ليْسَ هُناك في تَاريخ المُصنَّفات الفِكْريَّة العَربيَّة قضيَّةٌ أعْقَد من قضيَّة كِتَاب "رسَائِل إخْوان الصَّفا" ذلك أنَّ شَخْصيَّات مُؤلِّفِيه وهَويَّاتِهم المَذْهبيَّة وغَايَاتهم ما تَزال غَامِضة ومُسْتَعْصِية على التَّفْسير، فقَد اخْتَلف البَاحثُون في تَاريخ جمَاعة إخْوان الصَّفا وهويَّتهم، وانْقَسمُوا في ذلِك شِيَعًا ومَذاهِبًا، بل واخْتَلفُوا أيْضًا في مَعْنى الاسْم ودلالَتهُ. وتحاول هذه الورقة إلقاء الضوء على هوية مصنفي رسائل إخوان الصفا عبر تحليل رواية أبي حيان التوحيدي عن كُتاب الرَّسَائل نقدياً، وكذا مُناقشة أراء الباحثين حول هوية هؤلاء الكتاب مثل نسبتهم إلى المعتزلة، أو صابئة حران أو الشيعة الإسماعيلية أو غير ذلك من الفرق والمذاهب المختلفة التي ادعى الباحثون أن إخوان الصفا ينتمون إليها.

There is no issue, in the history of the Arabic intellectual works, more complex than the issue of the book "Rasaeal Ikhwan al-Safa". That the personalities of its authors, their identities and doctrinally still ambiguous and need more explanation. So, scholars have differed among themselves in the history of Ikhwan al-Safa and their identity. They are differed as well in the significance and meaning of the name. This paper attempts to shed light on the identity of Ikhwan al-Safa through structure and analysis of the report of Abu Hayyan Al-Tawhıdi, as well as to discuss the scholars views concerning the identity of these writers, proportion to Mu'tazili, or Sabians of Harran, or Ismaili Shia or any other doctrines which scholars claimed that Ikhwan al-Safa were belonging to
