Risalet Dönemi savaşlarının temel saikleri çok konuşulmuştur. Siyer kaynaklarımızda, savaş sebepleri ile ilgili yeteri kadar veri mevcuttur. Bu durum, siyer ve tarih ilminin önemli bir kaynağı olan hadis literatürü için de geçerlidir. Bu çerçevede makalemizde, Hz. Peygamber’e nispet edilen “İnsanlarla la ilahe illallah deyinceye kadar savaşmakla emrolundum” rivayeti incelenmiştir. Rivayet, hem Risalet dönemini hem de günümüze kadar gelen süreçte, Müslümanların savaş algısını yansıtan bir haber olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda; rivayetin, savaşların sebebini değil, meşru çerçevede başlamış bir savaşın sürecini ve sınırını belirten bir rivayet olarak değerlendirilmesi gerektiği anlaşılmıştır.

The fundamental incentives of the wars during the prophethood have been widely talked about. There are enough data for such wars both in our biographic sources of the Prophet and in the hadith literature which is a significant source for the disciplines of Prophetic Biography and History. Within this regard, the saying that “I have been ordered to fight the people till they say: ‘There is no God but Allah’” which has been ascribed to the Prophet is investigated in this article. This riwayat has been regarded in the sense of a re-port, reflecting Muslim people’s concept of war both during the prophethood and for the period since then. As a result, it has been understood that this report must be evaluated not as proposing the reasons to fight but as delineating the course and limit of a war that commences within a legitimate frame.
