Descartes, fiziğin metafizikten öncelikli olmadığını sıkça söylemesine karşın, varlığı kavrama konusunda daima maddî dünyanın öneminden bahsetmiş, bunun yanında, in-san zihninin uzamın sınırlarını aşamadığını belirtmiştir. Ancak Kartezyen düşüncede fiziksel şeyler Tanrının bir eseri olduğu için, Descartes Tanrıyı kavramaksızın bir fiziksel kanıttan söz etmenin anlamsız olduğunu vurgulamıştır. Böylece doğa yasaları, Tanrının belirlediği kurallar içerisinde işleyişine devam etmektedir. Bu çalışmada bir yandan Kartezyen doğa felsefesinin temel kavramları olan madde, töz ve mekanizm ele alınacak ve Descartes fiziğindeki Tanrısal düzen anlatılmaya çalışılırken, diğer yandan Post-Kartezyen filozofların zihinle beden arasındaki ilişkinin çözümüne dair görüşleri-ne yer verilecektir.

Although constantly having told that physics was not prior to metaphysics, Descartes has always mentioned the significance of the material world in conceiving the ex-istence, and in addition to this, he has stated that the hu-man mind could not transcend the limits of extension. But in Cartesian thought, since physical things production of God, Descartes has been emphisized that it was not mean-ingless to speak of physical evidence without comprehending God. So natural laws have been continuing to their functions within the rules determined by God. In this study on the one hand it will be handled the matter, the substance and mechanism those are fundamental notions of Cartesian natural philosophy, and it will be tried to explain the divine order in Descartes’ physics, on the other hand it will be placed Post-Cartesian philosopher’s views on the solution of the relation between mind and body.
