Fransız Edebiyatının tartışılmaz en büyük yazarlarından birisi olan Balzac‟ın yaklaşık yüz kadar roman ve öyküyü İnsanlık Güldürüsü adı altında yayınlaması boşuna değildir. Yazarın eserlerinde işlemediği konu, ele almadığı tür neredeyse yok gibidir. Bunu yaparken amacı toplumu oluşturan tüm katman ve insanları ortaya koymak, çözümlemektir. Bunu zaten kendisi de açıkça dile getirir. Bu amaçla yaĢadığı dönemde ona malzeme oluşturabilecek hiçbir şeye de kayıtsız kalmaz. Mesmer‟in canlı manyetizma‟sı ya da hipnoz‟u da bunlardan birisidir. Balzac konuyla ilgilenmiş, ilgili metin ve deneysel sonuçları incelemiş, konuyla ilgilenen kişilerle bile görüşmüştür. 1834‟te Bayan Hanska‟ya yazdığı bir mektupta kendisinin de manyetik güçlere sahip olduğunu söylemeye kadar işi ileriye götürür. Manyetizma ise 19. yüzyılda dönemin gündemini oluşturan bilimsel bir yaklaşım olarak karşımıza çıkar. Franz Mesmer‟in bilimsel deneyleri kimi o dönem yazarlarının ilgisini ve dikkatini çeker. Manyetizma, uyurgezerlik ve katalepsi gibi konulara hakikat atfeden Balzac da bunlara karşı kayıtsız kalmaz ve yapıtlarında kullanmaktan çekinmez. Yazar manyetizmayı her bir kişinin özünde bulunan ülküsel kiĢiliği ortaya çıkarmada önemli bir araç olarak görür. Balzac insanın kendi beni ötesinde gerçek başka bir ben‟in olduğunu ve bu ben‟in manyetik deneyimlerle sonsuzluğa ve hakikate erişebileceğine inanır. Çalışmada, o dönemde tıpsal anlamda tartıĢmalı olan ancak yazarlara konu teşkil eden bu konunun Balzac tarafından Lanetli Çocuk adlı romanda nasıl uygulanmaya çalışıldığı ortaya konulmaya çalışılacaktır.Anahtar Sözcükler: Balzac, Lanetli Çocuk, Mesmer, Hipnoz.THE HATED SON AND HYPNOSISAbstract: Balzac, one of the most prominent and notable authors of French Literature, wrote nearly one hundred novels and short stories under the title of La Comédie Humaine. In his various literary works, he dealt with almost any kind of topics. While doing this, his main aim was to portray and analyse each and every type of person that forms the society, which is what he also stated himself. For that purpose, he didn‟t remain indifferent to anything that can be a source for writing at that time. Mesmer‟s animal magnetism and hypnosis are two examples of this. Balzac dealt with the topic by analysing the texts and studies related, he even interviewed with people interested in the issue. In the letter he wrote to Ms. Hanska in 1834, he stated that he also had magnetic power. The writer considered magnetism as a part of existence and reality, connected strictly to each other and which is controlled by a superior power.Magnetism is a scientific approach becoming a current issue in the 19th Century. Franz Mesmer‟s scientific experiments attracted the attention of some writers at that time. Balzac, accredited with some issues such as magnetism, night waking, catalepsy, could not remain indifferent to the matter, thus used them in his works. The writer viewed magnetism as a significant tool in uncovering ones utopian personality. Balzac believed that humans possessed individuality besides theirs, and reality and eternity could be obtained through magnetic experiments. The writer, who gave magnetism such a broad meaning and role, considered it as a communication tool between the eternal and spiritual personality, found hidden in every individual. In this study, how this medically controversial topic of that time, which caught the interest of writers, was dealt in Balzac‟s novel titled L‟Enfant Maudit will be studied scientifically.Key Words: Balzac, The Hated Son, Mesmer, Hypnosis.

The French colonial troops, commonly called La Coloniale, are hardly known, although they played a very important part in the construction of the French colonial Empire from the XVIth century to the 1960s. These troops are recruited from France or from the population of the French colonial empire and play an important role in the defense of the French territories all around the world. The present paper presents the short history of these troops and their participation in the World War I. The French Africa Army (Armée de l'Afrique) and the Marine (Marine ou Coloniale Blanche) contain the best parts of the French military forces, able to fight and be victorious on every battlefield in Africa, Asia and even Europe. Due to this good reputation, the French military High Command uses these units in all fronts of the war with success. They participated in the conquest of German territories in Africa, in the defense of France on the Western Front, and they fought in Turkey, in the Balkan and in Russia, too. But this success has a high price: a great number of killed, wounded and missing soldiers. At the same time, their sacrifice has some reason because France is victorious in this conflict
