Bu çalışmanın ana amacı, Ankara-Keçiören ilçesindeki okullarda geliştirilen “Okul Başkanlığı ve Okul Meclisi Projesi” uygulamalarında okul başkanlığına seçilen öğrencilerin ailelerindeki demokratik yaşam koşullarını incelemektir. Bu çerçevede araştırmanın evreni, Ankara ili Keçiören ilçesinde bulunan, kamuya ve özele ait tüm ilköğretim ve ortaöğretim kurumlarını kapsamaktadır. Toplam 127 eğitim kurumundan okul başkanlığı projesine katılan toplam 105 okul araştırmanın evrenini oluşturmuştur. Araştırmanın verileri anket ile toplanmıştır. Burada daha çok okul başkanlarına ilişkin demografik bilgilere, ailelerinin yapısına ilişkin bilgilere, ailede kararların alınması, öğrencinin kararlara katılımı ile okul başkanlığına ailenin, okulun ve arkadaş çevresinin bakışını saptayacak sorulara yer verilmiştir.

The main aim of this paper is to investigate the democratic life conditions in the families of the students who were elected as the student representatives in the schools of Kecioren town in Ankara. The research population consists of all educational institutions in town. The total number of the schools is 127. However, 105 of them were involved in the project due to having the student representative system. A questionnaire was administered to collect the data needed. The data collection instrument consisted of the questions concerning the demographic variable, the family structure, decision making process in the family, the participation of the students into the decision making process, and the evaluation of both family members and peers to the student representative post in schools.
