The genius of the place and revelation of a new realism: le pay san de paris of louis aragon

Le Paysan de Paris (The Peasant from Paris) (1926) written by Louis Aragon as a young writer (1897-1982) is a remarkable combination of many aspects of the Surrealist movement with the unique style of narration and description of the French author. Le Paysan cle Paris, consisting of "Preface to the Modern Mythology," "The Passage of the Opera," "Feeling Nature in Buttes Chaumont," and "The Peasant's Dream" is a description of the concrete realism of this city toward its metaphysical image. In his description, there is a co-existence of image and imagination. The author's movement between the concrete and the abstract reflects his understanding of symbolism. The change in his understanding of value judgment caused by the turmoil of World War II is reflected in his novel as an escape from the imposed realism and current system where all kinds of prejudice and dogma exist. In this escape the image of a woman representing love is mixed with the fantasies brought about by the view of the city. In other words, the combination of space and the woman image makes the writer feel in a fantastic realm. In this context, rather than a classical narrative form, Aragon's novel becomes kind of poetic narrative. Demonstrating a surrealistic understanding in the pursuit of the unknown, this narrative form indicates a new reality in every aspect: a reality that embodies the concrete and abstract worlds together in it.
