Prof.Dr. Zafer Bayburtluoğlu, 30 Ağustos 1945 yılında Giresun ilininŞebinkarahisar İlçesinde doğdu. 1968 yılında Ankara Üniversitesi Dil veTarih Coğrafya Fakültesi Sanat Tarihi Bölümü’nden mezun oldu. Çeşitlikazılara katıldı. Vakıflar Genel Müdürlüğü Abide ve Yapı İşleri Dairesindegörev aldı. “Anadolu Selçuklu Devri Büyük Programlı Yapılarında ÖnyüzDüzeni” konulu doktora çalışmasını 1972 yılında tamamladı. 1977 yılındaAtatürk Üniversitesi Edebiyat Fakültesi Sanat Tarihi Bölümüne asistan olarakgirdi. 1982 yılında Doçent, 1989 yılında Profesörlüğe yükseldi. 1993 yılındaErciyes Üniversitesi Güzel Sanatlar Fakültesi kurucu Dekanlığı görevineatandı. Evli ve iki çocuk babası Prof.Dr. Zafer BAYBURTLUOĞLU, 2001yılı 19 Kasım’ında aramızdan ayrıldı.
