Cam hammaddesi olarak kuvarsit-kuvars kumunun hazırlanması

Bu çalışmada kum hazırlamaya uygun değişik yöntemlerle cam yapımının gereksinimleri ve kuvars kumunun bileşimi arasındaki ilişkiler belirlenmektedir. Her ne kadar kum üreticisi ve cam yapımcısı çok az farklı yaklaşımlara sahip olsalarda bu çalışmadaki bilgiler her ikisi için de önemlidir. Ümit edilmektedir ki, bu çalışma Türkiye'de kuvarsit kumlarının daha gelişmiş yöntemlerle hazırlamada ilginin teşvik edilmesine yardımcı olacak ve böyle yöntemlerin bu memlekette sadece kum üreticileri tarafından değil aynı zamanda cam kumu kullanıcıları tarafından da uygulanması sağlanabilecektir.

Processing of quartzite-quartz and sand as the glass raw material

In this study, the relations between composition of quartz sand, requirements of glass manufacture and the various methods adopted in sand processing are determined. Although the sand producers and glassmakers have somewhat different approaches the Informations in this paper are important for both of them. It is hoped that the article will help to stimulate interest in the more sophisticated processing of quartzite sands in Turkey and may lead to a wider application of such methods in this country not only by sand producers but also in some cases, by glass sand users.
