Age and Growth of Scorpion Fish (Scorpaena porcus, Linneaus 1758) from The Southeastern Black Sea (Turkey)
The growth and age of the scorpion fish (Scorpanea porcus, Linneaus 1758) were studied using 316 fishescollected from Southeastern Black Sea during the period of March 2012 to April 2013. Age of S. porcus was foundbetween 0 and 7 years and the age group 2 was detected dominant (55.06%). The mean total length and weight of thespecimens were found 12.90±0.19 cm and 50.51±2.84 g, respectively. The length-weight relationship for female, maleand both sexes were calculated as W=0.0154*L3.1017, W=0.0193*L2.9897, W=0.0189*L3.0122. Von Bertalanffy growthequation parameters considering all individuals were L∞=40.52 cm, K=0.098 year-1, t0=-1.764 year. The growthperformance index (Ø) was determined as 2.21.
