Siyanotoksinler, siyanobakteriler tarafından doğal olarak üretilen çeşitli toksin gruplarıdır. Bu maddeler, etkileri açısından hepa-, derma-, ve nörotoksinler olarak sınıflandırılırlar. Siyanotoksinlerin biyosentez geçiş yolları ile ilgili araştırmalar henüz başlangıç aşamasında olup, biyokimyasal etki mekanizmaları da tam olarak bilinmemektedir. Bu derlemede, siyanotoksinlerin yapısal özellikleri, etki mekanizmaları, farmasötik ve sağlık açısından önemleri konusunda kısa bilgiler verilerek, biyosentez mekanizmalarından sorumlu genlerin regülasyonu ele alınmıştır

Cyanotoxins are a group of various toxins that are produced naturally by cyanobacteria. These substances are grouped as hepa-, derma- and neuro- toxins according to their effects. The research into the biosynthesis pathways of cyanotoxins is at the beginning stage and their biochemical effect mechanisms are not fully explored. In this review, structural aspects of cyanotoxins, their effect mechanisms, their importance in terms of pharmaceutics and health are given and the regulation of genes responsible for their biosynthesis is discussed
