Simulation of a communication system using Lorenz - based differential chaos shift keying (DCSK) model
Chaotic systems can be defined as “sensitively dependent to initial conditions and immeasurably complex” systems. Besides the sensitive dependence to the initial conditions, chaotic systems have a wideband, noise-like and non-periodic structure. With this characteristics, chaotic systems has found wide application areas; in different branches of science, especially in engineering. Communications is one of the important applications of chaotic systems. Chaotic masking, chaotic modulation, chaotic shift keying and predictable control method are used in chaotic communications systems. In this study, Differential Chaos Shift Keying, that is a spread spectrum chaotic communication method, was simulated. Because of its fast implementation, “C” programming language was chosen as the simulation environment. In literature, Chua Circuit is usually used as a chaos generator in chaotic system applications. In this study, first time implementation of DCSK method combined with Lorenz system as a chaos generator was examined. It has been seen that the performance of Lorenz system is better when compared with Chua’s circuit.
