Effects of heat treatment conditions and sliding speeds on the adhesive wear behavior of AISI D6 steel

In this study, effects of wear speeds on the adhesive wear behavior of heat treated AISI D6 steel wereinvestigated. In normalization, steel specimens were austenitized at 900 and 950 ºC for 30 minutes and then air- cooled. Sample was annealed at 850 ºC for 30 minutes. Adhesive wear tests were performed by pin-on-discadhesive wear tester under loads of 20 and 40 N at a sliding speeds of 1 and 1.5 m s -1 . Annealed sample showeddecreasing adhesive wear resistance and hardness. Adhesive wear resistance and hardness of normalizedspecimen increased up to 900 ºC for 30 minutes, but it decreased at 950 ºC for 30 minutes.
